Kinja'd!!!

My ST is throwing this “service engine soon” alert. I tried the normal reset procedure for this light and disconnected the battery for 20 minutes with no change.

Oil is freshly changed as of this past week, no physical issues as far as I can tell and my handheld tuner can’t find any codes when scanned.

I took it to my Ford dealer and with the Mountune tune, they can’t scan for issues. I’ve emailed Mountune and have not yet heard back.

Unfortunately , outside of some limited recall scenarios where a specific update for the tuner is provided, you cannot uninstall a Mountune tune and then re-install. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .

Current strategy ? Just keep driving

If you keep the engine at just above 6k RPM the needle should cover your light and solve your problem.

Check the gas cap if you haven’t already, t hen go for a few drive cycles to see if it toggles itself back off . Cel’s are usually emissions related... well, they used to be anyway. Idk about this newfangled stuff. Very odd a batt nap didn’t reset it. Did you touch the cables to one another after you disconnected them? That may help discharge the caps so no residual juice remains allowing bad memories to be stored. Ymmv tho.

No gas cap on Ford's typically

It’s not CEL, it’s just the oil change reminder light.

You didn’t say it had to be a good hypothesis. ;)

I have not driven a F orrrrrrrrrrd, lately.

... However if whatever is supposed to be sealing in the filler neck isn’t sealing properly....

Idk. :(

Not blinking, not really a problem.

I have doubts the dealer couldn’t read your ecu, probably just wouldnt because,”liability”.

Some generic scan tools don’t pick up manufacturer specific codes.

Maybe try an i ndy shop

It's Ford supported and even covered by the factory warranty

A remap should not block the scan for DTC and their removal.

Usually with remaps by well known companies, you can have a re-flash for free if it has been overwritten by an upgrade at the dealership ; the link you shown is for a “upgrade” tune for cars with the 215hp remap not for re-flashing the same tun e .

Weird, I would have thought the dealer could have reset it with the fancy computers they have.

I’d wait for Mountune, maybe give the procedure another whirl . L ooks like it’s turn to on without engine running and hold the gas and brake pedal until the light goes out. Should be 30s but I’d go a bit longer like up to a min just in case.

If not, it’s not a super huge deal. Just remember when you did it and change the oil as recommended.

I wonder what it means that they,”c an’t scan for issues” then.

The scan tool won’t pick anything up?

The tool won’t connect?

Ei ther of those signify a bad ecu, module, or wiring problem

Is that wrench light the CEL? Because I don’t see a light on that’s shaped like a CEL usually is. “Service engine soon” usually means CEL to most people

I saw the Youtube video how to reset the light. Damn you gotta hold that shit for 30 seconds! WTF? Usually it’s like 5-10 seconds from the other (non-Ford) cars that have this kind of system.

Maybe you can post it on a Fiesta forum or something. Maybe someone else with the Mountune might have the same problem

Did you try the procedure with the brake/gas? With the key on the accessory position, press and hold the gas and brake pedals for 25  seconds.

My 20 year old VW has been doing this for years because I keep forgetting the procedure to reset it using the odometer reset button and it hasn’t been inside a VW service shop for ‘quite some time’ so it’s not like they can do it .

Basically, it goes off every 10,000 miles or whatever the kilometre equivalent is...or some shit.
